East Bay countertop specialists
Family-owned and Oakland-based. Licensed CSLB #1054501 (active since 2019), working on every install ourselves — no wholesale-to-a-sub model.
East Bay kitchens are never standard. Rockridge Craftsmans with original 1920s cabinet boxes. Berkeley Hills brown shingles with settled century-old counter runs. Alameda Gold Coast Victorians with non-standard cabinet depths. Modern Bay Farm builds with straight runs. The install is the same everywhere, but the prep and templating are where experienced hands matter. We laser-measure every wall, check cabinet level, and shim old boxes before the slab goes on. That is why our seams land where they should.

Bay Area Budget Ranges
Bay Area market ranges we see for countertops installed on standard kitchens — includes tearout, template, fabrication, standard edge, and install. Use them as a budgeting guide, not a quote.
$50–$80/sq ft
MSI Q Quartz, LG Viatera
90% of our Bay Area installs are quartz. Standard tier is solid colors, light patterns — great for rentals and first-time owners.
$75–$110/sq ft
Silestone, Caesarstone (base collection)
Full color range, subtle veining. The East Bay owner-occupied sweet spot.
$100–$150/sq ft
Cambria, Caesarstone Supernatural
Dramatic veining, marble-look. For statement islands in character-driven homes.
$45–$140/sq ft
Granite / Marble / Quartzite
Real stone when you want unique slab-by-slab character. Granite $45-100, Marble $80-140, Quartzite rarer.
Waterfall edges, mitered corners, farmhouse sink cutouts, and hillside stair delivery all add to the baseline — we walk through the specifics at template day so there are no surprises on install day.
Install Process
Four steps, every countertop job. Template to install in 5-7 business days.
We come to your kitchen, measure cabinet runs, check for cabinet settling or out-of-square walls, and talk through brands and edge profiles. No pressure, no upsell.
Laser templating on-site, 60-90 minutes. We capture every out-of-square wall and cabinet quirk so the slab drops in tight.
Slab cut to spec at our partner fab shop, 3-5 business days. East Bay fabricators keep lead times tight on Bay Area jobs.
Install day runs 4-8 hours. Sink and faucet back online next day once the adhesive cures. One team, no juggling.

What We Refuse
Installing quartz or granite over old tile countertops never works. The substrate is uneven, overhang support is compromised, and the seam reveal always cracks within a year. We demo the tile and install on a proper substrate — it adds a day but saves the call-back.
We only install brands with verifiable warranties and US-accessible customer support. Off-brand imports often lack the binder quality or UV resistance of the real thing and fail within 5-7 years with no recourse for the homeowner.
We don't quote off a price list. Brand availability, slab yield, edge profile, access, and current fabricator rates all move the number. You get a real quote after a real walkthrough, not a number pulled out of the air to win the job.
We place seams at logical break points — in sink cutouts, at corner changes, or at plumbing runs — not in the middle of a prep surface. Bad seam placement is a maintenance and aesthetic headache for decades.
Why Soto Bay
We are based in Oakland and serve the East Bay: Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Emeryville, Piedmont, San Leandro. No long commute, no delays, and a local team that knows the housing stock across the area.
Laser-measured on-site, not guessed from drawings. Out-of-square Craftsman walls, settled century-old cabinets, 45° corners, and farmhouse sink cutouts all get captured before fabrication — that is why our seams land where they should.
Template, fabrication coordination, install, and plumbing reconnect all handled under one contract. No fabricator-vs-plumber finger-pointing when something goes wrong.
Your quote comes from a walkthrough, not a price list. We flag hillside stair access, narrow residential parking, old cabinet runs, and non-standard counter depths up front — transparent pricing, never a surprise on install day.
