Berkeley's housing stock is an eclectic mix. Brown shingle homes from the early 1900s in North Berkeley and the Hills. Stucco Craftsmans along the tree-lined blocks of Elmwood. Pre-war Victorians scattered through South Berkeley. Mid-century modern builds tucked up in Thousand Oaks and Claremont. Each one has its own quirks — plaster walls, settled subfloors, original redwood trim, knob-and-tube wiring we sometimes find behind a stud bay. Working with what's already there is part of our standard process, not an upcharge when we find it.
